get rid of anxiety

My hypnotherapy session with DeAnna was remarkable in many ways. We worked together on my feelings of anxiety and unease and I was amazed to feel the difference in my levels of apprehension immediately in the days following our session. I had some doubts about the effectiveness of doing an online session, but it worked! I felt completely at ease during our time together and experienced a renewed sense of vitality. You are truly a treasure and this session was truly a gift.” D.K.- San Clemente, Ca.

Anxiety/Panic Attacks

"Anxiety is a type of fear usually associated with the thought of a threat or something going wrong in the future, but can also arise from something happening right now’’  -Mental Health Foundation.

Most of us experience some anxiety at times within the course of our lives life. Life is full of potentially stressful events and it is normal to feel anxious about everyday things. When anxiety increases in intensity and frequency, becomes overwhelming or chronic, then it becomes deeply distressing, frightening and even disabling to a person. There can be a single trigger or event that raises our anxiety, but usually it’s an accumulation of pressures or worries such as work pressures, relationship difficulties, how we think we look, finances, etc.

Anxiety has a strong effect on us because it triggers our “fight of flight”, a survival mechanism in our body. It causes our mind and our body to speed up as if preparing for an emergency situation and floods our bodies with hormones which can make things extremely difficult to navigate.

Some physical expressions of Anxiety include:

  • Rapid heartbeat /palpitations

  • Fast breathing

  • Dizziness

  • Dry mouth

  • Tension or weak muscles

  • Churning or 'butterflies in the' stomach

  • Loose bowels

  • Urgent need to urinate

Anxiety has a psychological impact on us to, which can include:

  • Trouble with concentration and focus

  • Feeling ‘unreal’ or as if not in your body

  • Feeling irritable or depressed

  • Insomnia

  • Loss of self-confidence

  • Worrying and a flood of negative thoughts

Another form of anxiety, which is much more sever is known as a panic attack, and may happen suddenly, with little or no warning. These types of attacks cause fear that is out of all proportion to the actual situation. The person may know that it is irrational to feel this way, but feels powerless to stop it. It just seems to overcome them.

Panic attack symptoms include the following:

  • Pounding of the heart; palpitations

  • Sweating or chills

  • Shortness of breath

  • Shaking or tremors

  • Dizzy, light-headed or faint

  • Feelings of loss of control

  • Churning stomach

  • Feeling of impending dread or even death
